Big Pit Foggy Field Trip

Today, the Year 1 students took a trip to Big Pit, Blaenafon to take photographs for the Landscape Module. The idea was to explore man-made impact on the landscape, although due to the poor visibility, we changed our focus from Landscape photography to Abstract photography and used the trip as an opportunity to be creative.

Whilst at Big Pit, the students also explored the Walter Waygood 'Family of Miners' Exhibition, which some of our Year 2 and Year 3 students had previously visited.

Walter Waygood is one of our visiting guest speakers at Coleg Y Cymoedd, who engages and inspires students, talking about his experiences in producing documentary photographs of the Welsh landscape, home life, society, work, religion, mining and youth in Blaenafon from the 1970s onwards.

The Exhibition runs from: 1 September 2017–28 January 2018, 9.30am-5pm, see the link for further details...
